With my fair skin, and Summer quickly approaching, I’m all about a healthy glow without the potentially damaging effects of the sun.  Around this time each year I immerse myself in self tanner research and try just about everything on the market.  Sometimes I’ll revisit old favorites and give them a fresh try to see if they have changed in any way – ease of application/scent (or lack thereof)/color/longevity – and I’m always trying the new, or at least new to me, tanners.  Last month Vita Liberata invited me to a lovely luncheon and product demo at Skybar at The Mondrian here in LA and sent me home with a gift bag brimming with their products.  I’ve been trying Vita Liberata for the past few weeks and the buzz is definitely true; for my skin, these products are perfection!

Vita Liberata is the world’s first non-toxic self tanning brand.  From their Irish base they created the world’s first odorless tan in 2007 and their unique Odor Remove technology is now present in all of their at-home self and salon spray tans. In 2011, Vita Liberata became the first completely non-toxic tanning brand, developing a collection of tan solutions free of parabens, perfume, alcohol and all chemicals of concern.

The Body Blur was an instant favorite for me because of it gives a natural looking tint and reflects light for a photo-ready finish.  I love that it dries right away and gives me smooth, glowing skin in an instant; perfect for those times when I’ll be baring a little more skin than usual and haven’t had a chance to ‘tan’.  Body Blur stays put all day, or night, and then washes right off.

The Passionflower and Argan Dry Oil with an SPF of 50 is lightweight, dries quickly and left my skin soft and conditioned plus it was also fast-absorbing and incredibly easy to apply.  I find that I’m more likely to actually use, and remember to reapply, my sunscreen if the whole process is extremely easy and this definitely was.  The Trystal bronzing mineral powder is a world-first self-tanning bronzer that gave me bronzing mineral coverage and a subtle lasting tan.  Trystal comes in two shades and I have the lighter ‘Sunkissed’ one.  I find myself using this daily and it works as an instant bronzer but with lasting gradual tan results.  I apply it right over my moisturizer on days when I’m not wearing foundation or on top of my liquid foundation on days when I’m wearing more makeup.

The two long-lasting self tanners from Vita Liberata that I’ve been using are the pHenomenal 2-3 week tanning mousse and the Self Tan SPF 50 Dry Oil with Marula.  The pHenomenal 2-3 Week Tanning Mousse is a fast drying medium tanning mousse with pHenO2 Technology for a long lasting, natural-looking tan with instant color that developed in about4 hours and kept me looking tan for a little over 2 weeks.  I was a bit nervous to try something new that would stick with me for 2-3 weeks but I ended up loving the results and the light, natural tan color.

The Self Tan SPF 50 Dry Oil with Marula is the world’s only self tan with with SPF 50 broad spectrum protection. This self tanning dry oil applies with a subtle tint for an instant color boost and no missed spots. This product gave me a gradual tan and I like that it was buildable so I was able to get the perfect shade after only 2 or 3 days of use.  My skin felt soft and hydrated from using this dry oil tanner and after a few applications my skin kept it’s smooth glow for nearly 10 days!
