It’s hard to believe summer is almost over. It’s been a great one, filled with laughter, friends, warm weather, and plenty of fun fashion. Now that we are approaching fall and exploring what are the latest fashion trends in 2014, I thought it was a good time to review some of summer’s hottest trends. As you probably already know, early fall is a great time to stock up on summer essentials at great prices, so check out some of summer’s hottest looks and hit the sales racks while we still have a bit of warm weather to enjoy.
What are the Latest Fashion Trends in 2014: Hot Summer Looks to Remember
Pastels have always been associated with spring and summer, so it isn’t a big surprise that they were hot this year. Christopher Kane’s summer line featured some interesting pastel kits, and Burberry created some neat pastel lace twin sets. Both of these looks offer a romantic feel reminiscent of a beautiful country garden.
Mixing pastels with edgier materials such as vinyl or leather was also a big trend. Leather jackets have been back in style for a while now, and those who have always felt too shy to try the traditional rebellious look will be glad to know that the 2014 version has a soft and feminine touch. Colorful leather jackets were spotted on the runways at Vanessa Bruno, Versace and Antonio Berardi this year. They look great paired with a bold print, and with plenty of cozy layers underneath, they can easily transition into your winter wardrobe.
2. Slip Dresses and Fashion from the 90s
What are the latest fashion trends in 2014? Surprisingly, many of them are somewhat of a throwback to the 1990s. Slip dresses were big back then, and now they’ve made a comeback, appearing on runways for Roberto Cavalli, Max Mara and Jason Wu. This time, they’re showing up in thicker, more luxurious fabrics that look like a slip but provide the coverage of a dress.
Another big 1990s trend that was hot with celebrities this summer is the choker. This ultra-tight style of necklace was spotted on celebs like Kylie Jenner, Rachel Zoe and Rihanna. You too can put a modern and elegant twist on this last-century look by choosing a classy wrap choker in 18K gold.
3. Black and White
Black and white has always looked cool and fresh in the summertime, and it’s appearance at the summer runway shows this year proves its ability to stick around. A variety of interesting black and white outfits showed up at Tibi, Derek Lam, Jill Stuart and many other shows. From simple skirts and trousers to bold, graphic dresses, it’s clear that this classic combination is going to be around for a while.
