Biba

photo(134)I’ve always been in love with all things Biba and for some reason my obsession has revved up this week.  It could be that all of the unpacking and settling in from our move last week has left me searching for an escape from the never-ending stacks of boxes to a world of mod swingin’ London styles of the 60’s and 70’s.  I put rollers in my hair this morning and kept them in while I unpacked the kitchen hoping to recreate this fantastic Kate Moss look which pays homage to the Biba Girls:

photo(129)The first Biba store opened in London in 1964 and was frequented by Twiggy, Marianne Faithfull and Bianca Jagger. The Biba look was all about soft curls, big floppy hats, granny dresses and 30’s-inspired fashion.  The look was playful but also decadent and dark with deep shades of blueberry, plum, rust and mullberry along with chunky platforms, long lashes and bold makeup.

photo(130)I think these styles are timeless and classic.  I would definitely wear that wrap coat-dress, floppy hat and those rings!
