After my second season here at New York Fashion Week, I realize that I learned so much from these 12-hour days that I’ve got my packing down to a science. The weather here in September is quite a bit warmer than it was in February but my packing tips and tricks are pretty much the same. Packing for 10 days away from home with outfits to wear to the runway shows, parties, events, dinners and showroom visits is not an easy task but one I feel I’ve mastered this year.
Today I’d like to focus on what I pack in my daytime bag to get me through each and every event well-prepared without being weighed down. This bright, fun clutch is perfect for my busy days here in NYC and works well with my black and white palette while adding an eye-catching accent to my outfits that the photographers at Lincoln Center seem to love.
I’ve narrowed down the contents of my bag to just the basics and I love having it all handy and in one cute, small bag that I can easily set on my lap during the runway shows or at brunch. Sunglasses are a must here and I’ve packed quite a few pairs with me this trip as an easy way to accessorize. Business cards are vitally important as I’m meeting so many new people and making great business connections. My card case also holds my ID, hotel room key and cash for cabs and meals. My press badge is always in my bag so I’ve got it handy for the shows.
Fortunately, I haven’t needed that little pack of pain relievers yet but I’m prepared just in case. Unfortunately, I’ve needed the bandages for blisters and scrapes on my knee from a little trip and fall after a fashion show when my heel got caught in a sidewalk crack. A bright lipstick is always a necessity in my bag plus my phone is how everything gets done: keeping in touch with friends, tons of pictures, instagramming, tweeting and walking directions to just about everywhere.
