Happy last day of 2014! I’m still nursing a cold and making the most of some much-needed time on the couch with my beloved Netflix. I’m a documentary buff and this year I’ve had a run on fashion documentaries so I decided to share my top 5 favorites with you.
Diana Vreeland: The Eye Has To Travel, 2011
In this documentary (which I’ve seen more than a few times) Diana Vreeland’s journey through the industry is relived through archival videos and a look back at her most extraordinary work.
Bill Cunningham New York, 2010
New York’s legendary street style photographer, Bill Cunningham, delights in this behind-the-scenes look at his life and work.
Scatter My Ashes at Bergdorf’s, 2013
A fabulous look at the history of one of Fifth Avenue’s most chic shopping destinations.
Mademoiselle C, 2013
Carine Roitfeld, Bazaar’s global fashion director, shares her journey of starting her own magazine.
Ultrasuede: In Search of Halston, 2010
Quite possibly my favorite among these favorites, Ultrasuede documents the rise and fall of Halston and does an amazing job of highlighting the glamour and decadence of the 1970’s party scene in NYC.
Oh, how I wish I could go back in time to the 70’s and attend those parties!
