Last week I drove down to The OC to attend a private Halloween Haunting media event at the Goodwill of Orange County’s Tustin boutique. This fun event was held to debut the built-out Halloween section of the store and to raise awareness of Goodwill as the ultimate one-stop shop for Halloween costume needs.
I was joined by a fun-loving group of LA and OC bloggers that were challenged to team up and scour the racks for costumes to fit themes such as ‘TV Show Characters’ and ‘Halloween Classics’. Teams had just 10 minutes to run through the store to find their costumes, get dressed and report back to the judges.
Teams chose themes such as ‘That 70’s Show’ and ‘Say Yes to the Dress’ and for the ‘Halloween Classics’ round, came up with grim reapers and witches. My team chose to be fashion witches and we ended up winning our competition and went home with gift cards to Tender Greens.
Winners from additional rounds received gift cards from Nothing Bundt Cakes, The Market Place, Knott’s Berry Farm, Del Frisco’s Grille and Mindy Laven Interiors. We also enjoyed a lunch spread from Brio Tuscan Grille.
Halloween has become such a big business for Goodwill of Orange County that sections within the stores devoted to all things Halloween have sprung up across all of their retail locations. The Halloween sections feature themed racks ranging from ‘Day of the Dead or Dia de Los Muertos’ to ‘Flower Power’ to ‘Pirate’ and more. From wigs and masks to shoes, hats and finishing accessory touches, Goodwill really is the ultimate Halloween emporium.
