Fashion rock stars Mark Tango and Estel Day wowed us again this season with their Mark & Estel Fall / Winter 2015 “Stairway to the Stars” collection at Lincoln Center. The Mark and Estel fashion week show is one of my very favorites to cover. Their extremely wearable rock-fabulous styles combined with a stellar performance by the designers make this show the highlight of my fashion week.
Mark & Estel added hosiery and accessories to their line this season and have also launched their own printed textiles so this collection includes more patterns than we’ve seen in previous seasons. I especially love that these Santa Monica-based designers continue to manufacture all of their designs in the USA.
“Stairway to the Stars” is also the name of one of Mark & Estel’s songs (available on iTunes) and perfectly suits the rock and roll vibe of this collection of mini-skirts, flowing pants, chunky black boots and sheer fabrics. Mark & Estel’s philosophy is that each of us are rock stars and perfectly stylish just the way we are. The Mark and Estel fashion week show ended the way they’ve done since the start, with a high-energy guitar-heavy performance and this year included a wailing reminder that we are all fashion rock stars.
