Friday night I attended a wonderful ‘social good’ pop-up shop at UCLA in conjunction with Invisible Children’s Fourth Estate Summit. Beautiful Kristen of Style Wax Poetic walked me around this important event and introduced me to these innovative fashion brands that are making the world a better place.
Raven + Lily is an eco-friendly, fair trade and socially responsible brand that is dedicated to empowering women through design partnerships. I was so impressed with their mission and beautiful jewelry – especially their wrap bracelets crafted from melted bullet casings by HIV+ women in Ethiopia.
Another company that tugged at my heartstrings was Sseko Designs – a footwear and accessories company based in Uganda with the goal of educating and empowering women.
This was such an eye-opening event for me! I loved meeting these socially-responsible brands that are creating beautiful items and hopeful futures for women around the world. I also met with representatives from I Am That Girl – an important community inspiring girls to discover their innate worth and purpose. I learned so much about this group which is turning self-doubt into self-love that I need a separate post to do it justice!
This was a busy, fun weekend which also included a wedding at the Bel Air Bay Club, a few great estate sale finds and a fair amount of Italian food. I hope you had a great weekend, too!
