As part of my resolution to slow down and relax at home this week (instagram post HERE) I spent a good part of yesterday sitting on the floor playing with makeup. I’ve been on such a ‘hamster wheel’ lately that I haven’t had a chance to just enjoy the things that I enjoy. I love makeup and skincare but have been so crazy busy lately that I haven’t had time to try out the latest and greatest from the sweet brands that I partner with.
Urban Decay has been a favorite since my first NYFW when I met with them and got a quick makeup touch-up at the Vogue ‘Runway Retreat’ lounge; they gave me a travel size tube of Perversion mascara and I’ve been hooked ever since. I started using Urban Decay Anti-Aging Eyeshadow Primer Potion shortly afterwards and it’s still the greatest eyeshadow primer, ever.
Urban Decay’s eyeshadow palettes are legendary and this Naked Palette is loaded with 12 bronze-hued eyeshadows in an fabulous range of textures including matte, satin, shimmer and sparkle. I love that the palette includes a professional-quality, cruelty-free double-ended shadow/blending brush.
I can’t believe this is my first time trying out Urban Decay lipsticks; for some reason it just hasn’t happened yet! I feel like I have about a million different lip colors from so many different brands but somehow these ones escaped me. These 5 pretty nude shades from the UD ‘Vice’ collection are all so pretty and perfect for me; sort of ‘nude-ish’ but still with that intensity and staying power that I need in a lip color. So far my favorite is the one called ‘1993’ which is the darkest of this bunch but I can see myself wearing all but the lightest of these; I usually feel too washed-out in pale shades. Who knows, though? Maybe with a heavier eyeliner and some false lashes I might be able to pull it off.
It’s been so nice slowing things down a bit this week. There are usually quite a few beauty and fashion events going on here during the week and as much as I love them, it’s nice to just stay in sometimes and focus on other areas of my life.
