This belt bag from Hipsters for Sisters is my latest obsession and the first bag of this type that I’ve ever worn. It’s so easy for me to get caught up in that whole ‘big tote’ thing where I end up with a change of shoes and a sweater and a notebook and a million other things that I really don’t need to be lugging around all day. I love this chic little bag that holds my essentials and frees up my hands for other things – like holding some nibbles and champagne at a party or walking my sweet Elke pup.
The chain can also be used to turn this bag into a shoulder bag, crossbody bag or as a belt on it’s own plus the bag alone makes a nice little clutch. For now, I’m grooving on it as a belt bag and love the chic, minimalist look it provides. The fact that these bags are strictly made-in-LA is another big win plus I’m delighted with the back-story of this brand. Hipsters for Sisters was founded in January of 2012 by Debra Denniston and her two daughters, Rachel and Kate, in response to a lack of hands-free bags that were also stylish and well-designed.
Hipsters for Sisters mission is to liberate women from their baggage and to celebrate the joy of less and the freedom inherent in living life ‘hands free’. These belt bags are a reminder of the ease of living a life of simplicity – a life filled with more experience, happiness, wholeness and joy in exchange for less ‘stuff’. Additionally, 5% of the purchase price of each bag sold goes to organizations that help to liberate and empower women here in the United States, which truly makes these bags an even bigger ‘win’.
