This was a big week for our remodeling project and with each step that’s completed I get more excited about moving back in. We’ve got all of our wiring and plumbing completed now and just put insulation in the upstairs ceiling plus ‘hot mopping’ to waterproof the shower flooring…
Here’s inside the new front door and if you look to the right you can see wood covering where the old staircase was:
Here’s a view of the new staircase – the new location and design make the house feel so much more connected:
Here’s a shot of the family room downstairs – we raised the ceiling to make the room feel larger, replaced the old windows, added can lights and also wired for surround sound:
The area that I’m still most excited about is the master bedroom, especially the new bathroom and closet:
Work on the exterior started this week, too. We decided to stucco over the brick pillars in the front of the house which played a big part in giving it sort of an Identity Crisis… Mid-Century Modern plus a pagoda-style roof with a 70’s lava rock chimney and then a Spanish/Mediterranean courtyard – not to mention the crazy ‘Swiss Alps’ staircase in the middle of the living room which blocked the fireplace…
Thank you so much for following along with this fun project – I’m enjoying it more than I ever thought I would!
