How gorgeous is this Ona Chan ring? Ona’s jewelry speaks to me on so many levels and I feel a genuine kinship with Ona and her love of travel and ability to see beauty everywhere. My latest piece from Ona Chan is this Blue Lace Agate square cocktail ring. Blue Lace Agate is a gentle calming stone of tranquility and grace that lessens anger and nervousness and is harmonious and carries hope. This design was inspired by a trip to China which Ona describes here: “While hiking toward the Himalayan Mountains on the Tea Horse Trail, we stayed in the ancient city of Lijian, China. This UNESCO Heritage Site has been around since the Song Dynasty and its beautifully kept buildings often have Lattice Windows which are created on a geometric grid. This simple design inspired me to visualize a contemporary collection using a traditional element.”

| From an early age, Ona was always painting, drawing and creating. This passion led her towards a fine arts degree with her eye on sculpting. Unsure of where a fine art degree would lead her, Ona declined and opted for design school. Soon after her studies, Ona went on to work in Public Relations with some of today’s most noted names in fashion – Louis Vuitton, Prada and Gucci.
Having lived in Toronto to Sydney to Hong Kong to New York City, Ona found one of the world’s most inspirational cities to start a family. While living in Murray Hill and reflecting on personal change….Ona needed to return to the love of working with her hands which lead to her return to study and discovered wax carving and sculpting. Soon after selling commissioned pieces in New York, she once again picked up to return to Hong Kong where her family continued to travel to beautiful remote areas. From trekking towards the Himalayan Mountains, cycling in Bhutan, sailing in Columbo and watching sea turtles in Sabah – “inspiration is always around us”. Today, Ona and her family have once again decided to move – Vancouver, Canada where a new adventure has begun. Drawn to ornate ideas and imagery Ona pares them down to clean simple elegant everyday pieces but with an added surprise or twist. She loves her pieces to be layered and worn playfully to allow the wearing to express themselves and make each piece unique. Today, her collections have a sculptural feel. Her pieces range from 18K gold or 925 Silver with semi-precious stones to bronze with natural stones and quartz highlighted with Swarovski crystals. Ona’s growing jewelry collection is a reflection of all our on-going evolution, travel and having new adventures. |
