Holy metallics, Batman! This season’s must-have makeup products are going Full Metal Jacket with a mix of heavy metal hues and fresh-faced looks.
I Love Heavy Metal
The seventies are back with a futuristic twist! For their fall runway show, Rodarte showcased a matte, dark lip paired with metallic eye shadow. Designers like Donna Karan, Emporio Armani, and Libertine added just a touch of bright shimmer in the eye’s corners to opens up the face. Altuzarra and Issey Miyake gave their models’ lids some shimmer to go with their shine. However you want to wear the metallic look, you’re sure to give the eye-popping autumn leaves a run for their money!
One of my must-have makeup products: Try the Lorac PRO Palette for a hint of shimmer in your metallics—available at Ulta.com.
The 60’s Rage On
The sixties are also having a heyday, aren’t they? I can’t say I mind—whenever I see a teased-up, beehive-inspired bird’s nest, I think: be still my vintage heart. Luckily for me, and the rest of you funky gals, the sixties aren’t going anywhere with this season’s long lashes. Falsies were all over the runways at NYFW, and I couldn’t be happier with the trend.
One of my must-have makeup products: Ardell Lashes are the bee’s knees for girls in the know, as well as the pros. Try Ardell Natural Lash – Black 110 for an old-school look with a fresh edge.
Bangin’ Brows and Luscious Lips
I must admit, I have major eyebrow envy—I love a good, thick, well-groomed brow. At Carolina Herrera, the models had classically beautiful make up, though their brows were slightly more arched than the usual bold brow. For a tip: pinkish-purple stained lips work well with this look.
One of my must-have makeup products: Try M.A.C. Lipstick in Boysenberry—the pros will dab it on models’ lips and carefully blot it away to get that “just bitten” look.
Crossing the Line
As mentioned before, the sixties reign supreme on the runways this fall, and again, I couldn’t be happier. Lined, cat eye looks (like the ones at Jean Paul Gaultier and Rag and Bone) were big during Fashion Week. Whether you want a thick, smoky eye like at Nicole Miller or Tom Ford, or a softer version, like the one at Roberto Cavalli, the key to this look is definition. You don’t want a sloppy eye, no matter how thick or thin your liner is.
One of my must-have makeup products: There’s a reason the phrase, “She has Dior eyes” exists—and j’adore Dior! Try Dior Addict It-Line in Black.
Each item above is on my shopping list this season and, wallet willing, I’ll be filling up my online shopping cart with shimmery, cool, vintage-inspired goodies for fall!
